I am a mostly retired Alaska public school educator, 22 years teaching grades 4-12. Currently a consultant as "Chilkat Learning and Academic Support Services" in Haines. MS in Environmental Education from University of Washington, BS in Natural Resources Management from Humboldt State University. Previously I was a park ranger for twenty years for various agencies in California, Washington, and Alaska. Currently my focus is on understanding and integrating indigenous culture, embedding place-based education, and effectively promoting career and technical skills through relevant core instruction. Additionally, I would like to invite and encourage early and mid-career educators to join Alaska Science Teachers Association to continue advocacy for strong science education in our state and to promote new kinds of networking and the broadcast of excellent efforts being made statewide.
