Data-driven decision making is a foundation of personalized learning. From the grouping of students, to strategic assignment of content, to keeping track of each student’s personalized learning paths, data is essential for making decisions.
Learn how to run a FUN and engaging Mystery Skype game in your classroom! We will participate in a live Mystery Skype with students in a secret location. This session is best for K-2, 3-5, world language, and social studies teachers. Participants will walk away with a game they could use in their classrooms in the next few weeks. Mystery Skype is great for building global communication & collaboration in the classroom. This session is best for those who are new to Mystery Skype.
In this session, participants will learn cool apps that will help teachers establish meaningful communication with parents and students in real time. This is a BYOD session.
We are going to look at how we can use the C3 Framework to entice our students to craft complex and incisive questions; think critically about primary and secondary historical sources; form and support their opinions with evidence; and communicate their conclusions in ways that will prepare them to be engaged citizens of the world. Looking at the Inquiry Design Model we will see how we can deconstruct an inquiry focusing on the questions, tasks, and sources that provide robust learning opportunities for our students of today.
FNSBSD is piloting a new tech coaching program to help support teachers to effectively use technology to teach, support personalized learning, and increase efficiency to reduce your work time and workload. Teachers will be given 1-to-1 support for meeting their personal tech goals with the option of receiving course credit and/or a class set of iPad 2’s. This session will provide teachers an overview of the program & get started on the application.

Julie McHenry I am at a place with personalized learning where I am interested in learning how to integrate technology in a meaningful way for my students and self. I am hoping to become more efficient in small group and individual lessons with student access to resources outside of our school and classroom. More time to collaborate, plan and share lessons and resources with my colleagues is also high on my list this year.
