Participants will work with free program resources available through the UAF K-12 Outreach office’s REACH Up program. The REACH Up curriculum features place-based and culturally relevant STEM lessons for Alaskan students in grades 6th-12th.

The REACH Up curriculum highlights the Bering Strait region, with climate change themes of high interest to citizens throughout the Arctic and Subarctic. During the session we will highlight classroom lessons on current vegetation research, including the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities that involve documenting and analyzing shrub expansion onto the tundra ecosystem.  These activities were developed with contributions from local scientists Dr. Ken Tape, UAF, and Dr. Gerald Frost, ABR, Inc.
