Mississippi Delta...and Beyond, with slides, music, video, food & frolic!  (Emphasis on 7th-12th, however, lessons and materials may be adapted for younger students).
Kelly and Heidi will take you there...to the MS Delta, Berlin Germany, and New Orleans, through highlights of three outstanding opportunities for teachers: 
        • NEH Landmarks Workshop: MS Delta, Most Southern Place (Cleveland, MS),
        • Goethe Institute's TOP (Germany ), and the
        • Southern Institute for Education and History: Teaching the Past One Person at a Time: Holocaust and Civil Rights Stories (New Orleans, LA).
Multiple resource links provided to make multi-sensory connections with history, and to share them with your students in Alaska; TOP materials given to the first 20 workshop registrants, these materials are excellent and are geared for high school and middle school; refreshments.

Heidi Imhof and Kelly Scanlon are teachers at Barnette Magnet School in Fairbanks, AK. We teach 7th and 8th grade core subjects, but reach all grades in our social studies work. At this conference we plan to share stipend-based summer educational opportunities for teachers.
