Being a Firestarter:  Gwynne Ellen Ash
A small incident in a local high school, where students practiced critical literacy, in real life, began an international media firestorm. Although there is very little research describing students' critical practices on social media,there is even less advising teachers how to withstand potential media conflagrations when their students demonstrate their critical literacy in the public sphere.  Critical literacy can bring with it risks as well as rewards, for both teachers and students.  But that doesn't mean that we shouldn't be firestarters.
